The history of Jansen

Numbers mark events. Small ones and big ones. The origins of our company go back to 1899. In the then still independent town of Barmen, Josef Jansen founded a modest trading post for baking and cream powders, spices and spice extracts.

1899

Already in 1906 the first own brand "Naturella" was patented, which stands for quality and taste until today.

1906

20 years after its foundation, the trade permit was extended to "drugs, chemicals and stimulants".

1919

Relocation to the current company headquarters at Wittensteinstra├če 200- 204 in the city now known as Wuppertal

1939

The 2nd own brand "Pastagrum" was patented, paving the way for fruit melanges. Opportunities for new markets were opened up.

1963

All good things come in threes, and thus the first own fruit powder brand "Saftagrum" went on the market patented.

1967

Europe has become too small for us, first activities in Asia and participation in the "Food & Hotel Asia", Singapore - development of the Asian market.

1993

100th anniversary of the family business Josef Jansen & Co. KG.

1999

With the handover of the company to the 4th family generation and the implementation of a HACCP quality concept in 2007, the company was simultaneously transformed into a limited liability company.

2007

The Asian market has specific cultural and religious requirements for us as a manufacturer. In 2016, we added a halal product line to our brand range and had the company certified according to the latest FSSC 22.000 standards, as well as IIDC and HFCE standards.

Over the decades, what was once a pure trading company has become a major manufacturing operation with global distribution channels. Today, four family generations later, the company, under the leadership of Armin Jansen, holds on to proven traditions without closing its mind to the great challenges for a successful future.
